Miguel Angel Alegre studied violoncello at the National School of Music in México, postgraduate and baroque studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in England, and Orchestra conducting studies at the HøghMusikkSkole, in Norway.

As an orchestral musician, he has been playing with different orchestras in México, USA, England, Norway, Spain, and Germany. He has performed under the baton of conductors such as Sir Collin Davis, Maxim Shostakovich, Leon Spirer, John Adams, Neville Marriner, Jorma Panula, Plácido Domingo, Rachel Podger, Jordi Savall, within others.
As a baroque cellist, he has been a member of different ensembles in Mexico, England, Spain, and Norway,  participating in Early Music festivals such as: Glyndebourne Festival, Tenerife Easter Festival, The early music season in Saint Jame's Picadilly, London, Haendel House baroque series, London, Oslo Church Music Festival, Cervantino International Festival, Guanjuato, México City International Festival, Viva Vivaldi Fest, Tajin International Festival in Verazcruz, Early Music Fest  in Querétaro and the Manuel de Falla Festival in Granada within others.

At the moment is member of the Kleine Barockband in Berlin.
Chamber music is also part of his development as a musician, strings quartets, piano duos, strings trios, baroque ensembles, etc.

 As a cellist he feels comfortable in a baroque ensemble, in a symphony orchestra, in a hip hop band, string quartet, and poetry performance.
Improvising, composing and arranging folk music also occupies a big part of his time.
Film and media composition is another area of his interest.
